The Kilt and Harp recently opened in the neighbourhood. It's a great place for folks in this part of town to start or cap an evening of Danforth pub crawling. The pub still has a bit of a fresh paint atmosphere, but I think it will settle in nicely. The place seems to be aiming to position itself a notch above the local dives that plague the neighbourhood but somewhere south of the prices and wonderful surroundings of Dora Keough's and it's ilk in the cooler parts of the Danforth. To this end, they are hitting the mark. The pub is free of sad chronic alcoholics but the beer prices are not astronomically high. Several flat panels help keep the sports-minded abreast of golf, bball, etc. but they are placed in a way that ensures spaces for those not interested in TV. Music wafts up from the very back of the pub from a jukebox, I think. I much prefer this to most stereo installations because it never feels like it's blaring at you but you can always sing along. I'm not sure why, but I'm pretty sure I heard a christmas song in April, so the jukebox may need some adjustments, but please don't replace it. Staff are friendly. While they may not be great at putting a shamrock on your Guiness, it's fun to watch them try.
