Very disappointed in our visit today. Main area was closed for reconstruction, a good thing for future ideas and expansion, but then they shouldn't charge full admission. $15 per person for less than an hours walk through an enormously crowded venue without proper traffic patterns? No. Ridiculous. The larger birds, eagles etc seem confined and barely enough room to extend their marvelous wings, which is pitiful. Birds fly, but without the space to fly this seems very cruel and in form with old school zoos where animals are trapped in cages behind bars. the penguin exhibit was especially pitiful. These wonderful birds seemed to have no life in them. granted the wetlands area was very pretty and a chance to see many varieties of birds pretty close up. The rest of our visit was awful and disappointing at best. Won't be going back. This 'national' aviary is not what it's made out to be.
