Well, this is certainly a dive bar, that's for sure. Hattie's is filled with a diverse group of people, which I absolutely love. I've never met anyone there that wasn't friendly...both regulars, newcomers and bartenders. They have a great selection of beers, too! Since it's not too packed, it's usually quick to get a drink at the bar. Yeah! The outside patio is such a gem. They have a bunch of picnic tables out there, so I definitely recommend grabbing one of the games inside and playing outside when the weather is nice. Inside is a little dingy. I've been here a few times when the band was playing. The acoustics aren't great and it just ends up sounding loud (so it's hard to enjoy the music at a normal level). The bathrooms never seem very clean and on Saturday, the door lock wasn't working on one of the bathrooms. I would say there are better places to have a beer, but if you're in the Plaza Midwood area and just want to chill and have a cold one, you can't go wrong with Hattie's.
