  • I used to love this place. Madhouse was my go-to spot for pre work coffee. They used to have a set up where you would go buy a cup for coffee, then fill it yourself at the coffee bar area that had about 8 different choices of coffee. This is perfect for me because I am entirely too picky about my coffee. They usually had bold, mild, decaf, flavored, etc. My favorite was when they had the southern pecan flavored coffee out. Then you would take your coffee to the cream and sugar station to fix it how you like. After my job location switched, I wasn't able to go very often. I'm not sure exactly when they changed their entire set up, but it's completely different now. I went in awhile ago and saw that they didn't have their coffees out so I ordered tried to order a decaf at the counter. They said they didn't have decaf. Um. No decaf coffee at a coffee house?? They said I could get a decaf americano. If I wanted an americano I would have ordered it. I ended just walking out shaking my head. Then, about a week ago, I decided to give it another try. I was with my boyfriend and we happened to be passing by in the early afternoon. I asked them what coffees they had brewing. They had one coffee they could give me. ONE choice. Even Starbucks has more options and their coffee is awful. So I bought it, hoping it would be good. I start looking around for the cream and sugar station and it was nowhere to be found. The girl behind the counter told me they didn't have one so I had to stand at the ordering counter and tell the girl which sugar I wanted and how much cream, which she handed over to me. And then I stood there waiting for something to stir it with, because there was nary a stirring utensil to be found. I had to wait for the counter girl to come back to ask her to get me one. How does this not slow down the line on a busy day? No, I don't want you to put cream and sugar in for me, I want to do it myself because this is America, dammit. Anyway, it was super inconvenient that they don't have a system in place for this kind of thing. And the coffee was awful. And lukewarm. I hate dark brews, but that was all they had. My boyfriend got some fancy ass blended drink that was awful and tasted like ash flavored ice chunks. He had about two sips and threw it away. What a waste of $10 and 15 minutes. I'm a straight coffee drinker. And this used to be the place to go for variety. Sadly, I won't be back, much like the southern pecan coffee.
