So it's been about 3 weeks since I got my corrective surgery and well.....I CAN SEE EVERYTHING! I feel like a brand new person! I've had glasses for 20 years and contact lens for 10 years so I've never known what it's like to be able to wake up one morning and be able to see everything clearly. Super exciting!! Alright the important stuff now. I got a consultation at Lasik of Nevada and they determined I wasn't a candidate for traditional lasik since I had a thin cornea. Instead they recommended PRK.
I was told the first three days after PRK would be uncomfortable but I have to be honest. It was miserable!! I was recommended to sleep as much as possible and that's what I thought I'd do but no matter how much Advil PM or NyQuil I took I just couldn't fall asleep because my eyes were beyond irritated. My eyes felt so gritty and it was as if I had sand in them. I couldn't keep them open either and even while they were closed I'd have tears rolling down my cheeks. There were several times where I couldn't tell if I was actually crying because I was miserable or if that was just my eyes irritated (now laughing thinking about it). Anyways, on day two of my post op it was so painful I had to go back in and doctor said it might be that my prescribed eye drops were not going in the eyes properly. Lesson learned guys. Make sure when using eye drops you put them in the inner corner because when you put them right in the center they can very easily bounce off so you won't get it's benefits. So comes day 4 of post op and guess what? Eyes are feeling 100x better. Not much discomfort. They were pretty accurate about the amount of days you'd feel discomfort. On day 5 of post off they removed the temporary lens which was supposed to serve as protection and prevent infections. After removing the lens they did a quick eye exam and I was already at 20/30.
The first 2 weeks after surgery my eyesight fluctuated quite a bit which I was told is normal. It was frustrating because it would be like a contact lens commercial when someone has astigmatism. It's week three and eyesight is no longer fluctuating and everything seems pretty darn clear.
All in all I'd say I had a great experience and I'm beyond happy I went with Lasik of Nevada. Dr. Rothman was great. He went over everything before the surgery and explained the benefits and different types of procedures (we were a group of 5 that were going to have corrective surgery that morning). Oh and there was a girl whose name I cannot remember to save my life but she was kind enough to hold my hands during the procedure because I was having anxiety! Super sweet and she goes out of her way to setup your eyedrop bag since there's quite a bit of them.
The only thing that bothered me was that I didn't see the doctor until the actual day of surgery but based on the research I did I knew I'd be in good hands and the day or surgery he explained everything thoroughly.
