I have never had such a terrible experience at a gym before. This gym definitely takes the cake. I used to work at a gym so this is unexpected to find any gym bad news bears. So a month ago I moved back to the city looking to join a gym and commit to it. I went on the trial at this LA fitness before switching to Goodlife. Sure, I like the fact LA has a pool other than that I don't have anything else positive to say. Oh wait, I also like the convenient location. I tried this place out for 3 days to try and get a feel for the gym and see if I like it. It didn't work out and I quit right away! why? I have a very good reason. They discriminate against minorities and no I am not just saying that for the sake of saying that. If you say you're not a member yet, you'll get pushed to the side for awhile. They'll make you wait and think you have your whole life to waste there or something. Don't expect to get parking, especially at busier times. You'll have to wait around the parking lot for quite some time to actually get a spot. You go for the workout but you end up wasting SO much time unnecessarily. They have limited staff who are also incompetent of things there. This was evident as I asked where the various things such as fitness balls or skipping rope were located nicely. This staff working there did not know. On top of that, there was one person at the front desk with a very high volume of people scanning in and a long, long line. Had to wait a good 15 mins to even get scanned in to the gym the 2nd and 3rd time I went there. 2nd point is that I enjoy fitness classes. One that I tried had members that kept telling me to not stand there or were super loud and obnoxious. I know where I should be standing I've been to these same classes elsewhere never being rudely told off and what gives you the right to speak that way? I also had no idea who the heck was teaching that class because the class was so big and there were like 5 people facing towards the class. That totally made no sense to me. The day I registered as a new client was ridiculous. I specifically told them on the phone and in person how I would like to try out -- class then register. The consultant wouldn't let me go to the class and come back so after waiting patiently in the "lounge" and then slowly going through the registration process he finally let me go to the class where I interrupted him to try and inform him of the fact I'm missing part of a class I wanted to go to. These "consultants" take absolutely forever to try to find the right package for you and there is a surcharge for new members. Goodlife I find is more reasonable and the classes, people and staff are more friendly and helpful. So I recommend that if you're looking for a gym to join don't join LA fitness, you'll regret it and want ALL your money back stat.
