  • I've been going to Dr. Telega for my yearly checkup since she opened Shadyside Eye Associates 2.5 years ago. Last weekend I was outside for most of the day and somehow got a piece of dirt or grit in my eye. This had never happened to me before so I didn't know what to do. I called Dr. Telega and got ahold of her after hours, on a Sunday morning. She told me what to do to make myself more comfortable until I could get in to see her on Monday morning, and even said that if it got too bad I could text her and she'd open up the office on Sunday night to treat me. On Monday my eye was so irritated and swollen that she couldn't remove the dirt, so she gave me steroid/anti-inflammatory drops and had me back in on Tuesday afternoon to continue my treatment. I am very skittish about people touching my eyes and she was SO helpful and patient and gentle, talking me through everything she was doing and giving me plenty of time to take deep breaths in between pokes and prods. By Friday my eye was still swollen and even though the office isn't open on Friday she trekked over to Shadyside to meet me and clean out my eye again. The entire time she was so helpful and patient and never made me feel like a crazy person for wincing every time she touched my eye. I truly felt like she really cared about my eye health and was willing to do whatever it took to get me treated in the best way possible. I cannot recommend Dr. Telega enough!
