OK, I totally agree with Kat and her review and if it were judged on the food and alcohol alone this would be 2 stars at best. But let me relate this anecdote:
The night in question occurred a while ago. Just 3 dudes sitting on the top deck of the Imperial pub as the sun set on summer and left a glorious night in late September to bask in it's afterglow.
After the usual 3-4 pints of cheap lager, we get to talking about the love hate relationship with math-rock band Tortoise; I hate them and everyone else loves them. Pretty soon a dead ringer for Jerry Stiller in full boating regalia joins in. "You guys like Chicago? You should check out Wayne Cochran and the CC Riders. A Chicago cover band!" "We saw them back in the 70's at the Horseshoe. We all went backstage and did a pile of blow. He went back onstage and we danced all night!"
Huh?
The night continued as our "guest" kept moaning about how he missed his yacht. How if you ever "do the deed, ALWAYS-WEAR- A- SAFE!" (fist pounding the table for each syllable) and again, about how he misses having a yacht.
This experience sums up the Imperial Pub for me. You either love it or you loathe it. But you'll still wish you had a yacht.
