| - After a long day of travelling and nearly missed connections we were ecstatic to have found Wahlburgers across from our departure gate. I had never eaten at one of their locations and having seen a few episodes of the show, I was looking forward to the experience.
I noticed that there was literally not a single person in the restaurant and asked if we can just sit anywhere. Mandy, our waitress, who was wonderful, immediately came over to set a table up, explain the burgers and take our order. We put an order in and were just hanging out relaxing, enjoying the comfortable, open space when we realized our plane was boarding 20 minutes earlier than we had originally thought. Less than 5 minutes had passed since we placed the order with Mandy (our beers had not even arrived yet) and we asked if it would be too late to cancel the order. She said no and went off to the kitchen to alert them. When she came back she said that the burgers were already done! Please note that all of their burgers MUST be cooked well done and each of ours had completely different toppings. 2 burgers and an order of onion rings done in 4 minutes? We were shocked, but in a rush so took everything to go.
We sat down by our gate to allow ourselves a minute to eat while the line died down a bit. First appearances showed a burger that was not freshly prepared, and in fact, looked like it had been sitting for quite some time. The cheese had visible signs of leeched moisture on it's surface, which as many of us know is a tell tale sign of prolonged exposure at room temperature. The burger itself was just slightly warm and definitely well done. A freshly cooked, well done burger would have at least been hot. The avocado on my burger did not taste fresh and I could not even finish eating half the burger.
We hoped the saving grace would be the onion rings that we got to split as a side. Instead, we were presented with a dense ball of onion slivers heavily breaded and fried to form some sort of inedible dish with little semblance to onion rings, as we know it.
I hear that this location only recently opened, so hopefully they are just working out some beginners issues. Regardless, these are issues that need to be addressed sooner rather than later. Your restaurant and TV show claims "our family, our story, our burgers." If these burgers were any example of what the consumer can expect on a consistent basis, then this chain will not be around long.
