I really like Kimpton hotels and I try to stay in them where ever we travel. We have a small dog and it's so nice to have an option like Hotel Monaco that is dog-friendly. Consistently we love the contemporary but fun feel of Hotel Monaco's, we love that they are updated from existing buildings in the city and we love that we know if we stay at a Hotel Monaco, the location will be great for exploring a new city.
We checked in on one of the busiest weekends Pittsburgh has annually - at the end of June. We were trying to check in early and the Hotel Monaco staff member informed us that a 2 queen room wasn't available quite yet but we could take a King room. We mentioned that we would need 2 queens for the following night when our friends joined us and they were happy to work with us. In fact, they ended up moving all of our belongings for us (with our permission of course) while we were out and about Saturday during the day, so the transition was seamless. For being flexible, we were given bar coupons which worked in our room's mini bar or at the biergarten on the roof.
Which brings me to the roof Biergarten - definitely the coolest feature of this hotel and one of the best rooftop bars in all of Pittsburgh. Now that we live in Pittsburgh, I can't wait to return to this Biergarten.
The rooms are gorgeous and fun. I love that there are small nods to Pittsburgh in each room (I believe there was a Penguin lamp and the color yellow throughout). The bathrooms were swanky. I'm always impressed at how reasonably these rooms are priced. Sure they're not super cheap but for the amenities, location, service and aesthetics, you get your moneys worth here.
