| - As reflected in other reviews, the location and price for this complex are unbeatable (however, with renovations, prices are increasing quite significantly). It really is a good spot that is close to downtown but in a pretty quiet area.
The new ownership is a step up from the previous owners and property managers, however, they are not without their faults. In July, I had my air conditioning break during the day and I came home from work to a 98 degree apartment. I promptly called maintenance and informed them of the issue. They were very prompt in returning my call and offered a stand alone unit for the night to make it bearable.
After a few minutes the maintenance man (I can't recall his name) came to my door and informed me that the stand alone unit had already be given to another resident who had a broken unit by another maintenance employee. He was nice and very apologetic and offered to give me the keys to an empty unit that had A/C, I declined as I did not intend to sleep on the floor for the evening in an apartment that literally had nothing in it. Needless to say, I slept at a friend's house and returned to a cool apartment when I got home the next day! The maintenance department was awesome during this and did the best they could with limited resources and support from the property managers.
Now, as I mentioned the A/C had broken through the day and was running all day trying to cool the apartment. Obviously, my electric usage went through the roof with the unit running all day. I brought this to the attention of "Roxy" and asked if there was anything that could be done in terms of compensation because 1) My electric bill was sure to skyrocket and 2) I had been displaced for the evening.
When I spoke with her she was rather rude and told me that because they had offered the empty unit as a place to sleep that they wouldn't compensate me in any way. I was somewhat taken aback by this as they were unable to accommodate me in my own unit for the evening and fully expected me to sleep on the floor of an empty unit. I wasn't looking for anything extreme like a free month of rent, simply something to help me offset the cost of an A/C unit running for 8+ hours ( maybe $50 off?).
I almost feel bad leaving this review, however, their handling of this situation (especially when they are trying to retain tenants) was comical. I have not had an issue with any staff members outside of Roxy. In fact, I would goes as far as to say that the rest of the staff is the nicest I've ever come across at an apartment complex. I understand that Roxy may have been restricted my ownership policies, however, a simple smile and being nice really could have swayed my opinion in a positive direction.
