Tucked in a road behind the big Peak Freans cookie factory, Muddy York Brewing is one of the most hilarious local brewery experiences I've come across. On one visit, an entire family showed up, and one of the kids stiffed the beers mama was sampling (but not tasting of course). "This one smells like lemons!," before going off about eating vegetables.
It's a small shop with a hilariously thrifty mishmash of tables. The staff are amazing folks and the growing stock of products just as so. Diving Horse Pale Ale for example, piney goodness with a hoppy tart and pine hints. A single fridge serves as the bottle shop, and they even run their own deposit program for returning empty bottles and growlers. If they aren't doing barbeques out front, then they only got small snacks like chips on sale (or I suppose bring your own grub) if you feel like a bite in between drinks.
