| - During an impromptu visit to North Carolina our hosts suggested that we take our toddler (a four year old) to Discovery Place. She had an absolute blast.
Discovery Place is organized into numerous different display areas that allow children to play and pretend. Some of the rooms include a bank (with a working tube system!), grocery store (actual scanning tools), vet, fire truck, airport, water fun, cafe, stage and under the sea. The stage area is used periodically throughout the day for interactive science experiments and learning led by one of the Discovery Place Kids workers.
What I liked about Discovery Place is that my daughter was free to roam from room to room. It was crowded there so she learned how to use her words to communicate with other kids if they did something she didn't like. She also had the opportunity to play with different kids. I thought the price was reasonable, though we went in with pass holders so that makes a huge difference. The science lesson was engaging for the older kids. While my daughter didn't visit the art room, I love that Discovery Place has an area for kids to get creative and come up with some sort of personalized art.
While I doubt I will ever visit Huntersville again, if I were to find myself there on another impromptu trip, we would definitely make a point to revisit Discovery Place.
