| - Not my favorite Trader Joe's. The parking lot is a mess, and even on a Monday at 10:00 it can be hard to find a decent spot, or avoid being hit by drivers wildly swinging around the multitude of blind corners caused by decorative bushes and whatnot.
There's a major pet peeve I have when it comes to grocery stores. I'll be waiting in line, and the clerk (or a manager, or a bag boy, or whoever) will come up and say "Oh, head over to such-and-such line" and I'll head that way, only to have the clerk of such-and-such line tell me I'm in the wrong lane.
Major pet peeve. I don't like steering my cart wildly all over the store because you can't make your mind what lane I should be in. And this was me in Trader Joe's this morning.
In line, minding my own business, in no hurry, when the clerk says, "Oh, go to lane whatever. She's open and we're not busy." So I head to lane whatever. The clerk gives me the NASTIEST look ever and practically screams "I'm FIFTEEN ITEMS OR LESS", and turns her back on me. Okay, thanks, Ms. Friendly. So I head back to my previous lane, only to find that three more people have gotten in line and are already being helped. So I work my way back to the end of the line, and the first clerk says again, "She's OPEN down there!" and I'm like, "I get that, but she yelled at me and won't serve me."
At which point I get out of line and pretty much decide to just leave, when yet ANOTHER clerk appears out of nowhere and takes me to a different lane.
I hate this and I hate stores who do this. It's awkward and unprofessional and just, please, for the love of Pete, stop doing it to customers.
My next grocery store rant will be about clerks who open when the lines are long, and instead of going to get the next customer who is waiting, just stand there and scream "I'm OPEN!!!!", and watch as a massive stampede of people runs and pushes towards the now-open lane. Stay tuned for Part 2...
