  • My rental period was 11:30 pm 20 April through 7:30 pm 7 May. I am a "dollar express" member and as such was spared the long lines, etc. My car pick-up was smooth and uneventful. The cleanliness of the car was satisfactory, I was not pressured to buy any insurance coverage. This was the good news... The bad news began 8.4 miles away from the McCarran Rental Car Center where I was to return the car. I filled the tank at a Rebel gasoline station on corner of Vally View and Sahara. The car's gas gauge malfunctioned reading no higher than 7/8 of a tank. While I had the receipt, the drone that checked it in would hear nothing of the fact the gauge was inaccurate and insisted I was lying, calling me a liar in front of other customers and charging me over $23 for one eighth of a tank of gas. This individual is named on the check-in receipt as named ISUNID; beware of him as he is arrogant, insulting, abrasive. He told me to "tell it to the manager" so I went inside and presented my facts and was told the same thing by the manager, well, actually, another person went into the back and allegedly quoted the manager. I then stated my intention to contact my credit card issuer and perform a chargeback to recover my $23+. I was told "go ahead and good luck with that". I tried calling the Dollar customer support toll-free number and found to my disgust it is a "9-5" number, not 24 hour (beware, if you think there is 24 hour service available from Dollar). I emailed the customer service email address. The next day I called the toll free number again and was given a case number and requested to scan and email my gasoline receipt. I did so and received no acknowledgement of anything. So, 48 hours later, I contacted American Express to dispute the added charge plus tax on my rental and called Dollar again. I was told "it may take up to 5 days" to determine the validity of my request. well, 18 hours after I disputed the charge, AmEx credited my account for the amount I disputed and 5 hours after that Dollar emailed me stating they had refunded me (yeah, right, they refunded me because AmEx had charged the disputed amount back already). Anyway, I consider that only a part of the solution, I am still awaiting a requested apology from the manager on duty and from employee ISUNID before I will consider renting from Dollar again.
