  • After a terrible consultation experience we ended up not going with california closets. Our designer melissa came to our house and instead of getting to know our style and then present design ideas she just asked is to tell her exactly what we wanted and we weren't sure of the answer we thought she was the designer who could lead us in the process instead of vice versa. After the home interview we were given a survey and we gave a bad score because we weren't excited by the process. They then called us and after asking us to explain why we were unhappy in detail revealed melissa was sitting in on the conversation. Needless to say it made for an extremely awkward consultation with her later that day. She was standoffish and just gave us uninspired designs for our home office and seemed uninterested. We were still thinking of going with her and asked her to send us her ideas so we could think about it. However she never followed up and we no longer are going with California closets. Take away: it's not really a design company. They are limited in what they can do and don't help you design they just want to build exactly what you say without offering any opinions or advice of their own.
