Store is spacious and staffed by knowledgeable, pleasant, helpful people. Great selection of healthy plants, planters, grills, and accessories...so what could be wrong??? Nothing is wrong with the store...BUT stay away from Pike's Design and Installation Service...a seperate, and apparently poorly run business as I sadly discovered.
I originally contracted for a complete new-home landscape installation that turned into a needlessly expensive ordeal since I had to bring in another contractor to fix their mistakes. Other issues: they were a no-show on our first install date - no status updates communication during the subsequent 3 week installation delay - installation crew included two guys that were apparently being trained on the job...at my house! These two guys were not wearing Pike shirts and were clueless! Shrubs these guys planted actually blew over two days after they planted them and I had to call another contractor to replant them. They also simply placed pine straw directly over my grass to form planting beds which also had to be re-done by another contractor.
At the end of day #2 of the installation they left and never returned to finish the work. Seven weeks later I got a bill for items I had already paid for weeks before. This was after weeks of no communication, and long after I had to pay another contractor to finish their work. It takes nerve to add insult to injury!
After their initial installation no-show, and no response to my calls and email, I went to the store to speak to the General Manager. He was empathetic and actually said my experience was typical since they were busy. He also explained that the "Design / Install" service was a completely separate operation, and he had to put me in touch with someone from Atlanta. Ugh.
So - I have happily returned to the store multiple times to buy additional plants - but will stay away from their landscaping service. I also discovered - too late - that two of my neighbors had similar experiences.
