| - Contrary to most of the reviews here, we had a great experience at The Dump. We went on a Saturday morning with the intention of "checking out their price point" and ended up walking away with a sectional, entertainment center and dining table, all within our budget. Before going to The Dump we had looked at Ashley, Mor, JC Penny, Lay-z-boy, Costco and Ikea, but hadn't found anything close to what we had imagined. The Dump had a great selection of all of the pieces we were looking for in a range of prices. I'd been watching Craigslist as well, and was thrilled to find a solid, quality dining table and chairs in the same price range as some of the pieces on Craigslist.
We worked with Mitch who was helpful, attentive and not pushy at all. We are big fans of Dave Ramsey who talks about what a pleasure it is to work with a professional sales person - they are knowledgeable and make the process enjoyable. Mitch did just that! He dragged furniture around the showroom so we could compare the finish on the entertainment center and the dining table. He made four trips to see the mysterious manager and on the fourth time managed to get the exact pricing we asked for. We did ask for a deal if we paid in cash (since The Dump wouldn't have to absorb the debit/credit processing charge), but they were unwilling to waive the processing charge. I read some comments on about sales people being rude to young shoppers. We look younger than we are, but didn't run into any issues. Mitch actually commented on what fun it was for him to help a young couple.
Mitch told us from the get go that if anyone else asked us if we needed help to simply say, "we're already being helped by Mitch." We only had to use this line twice. Personally we found the sales people at Ashley and Mor to be uncomfortably pushy. We had made it clear that we intended to pay with cash and felt like the sales people at Ashley and Mor weren't listening to us because they continued to berate us with financing offers.
We are thrilled that we found one of a kind pieces that don't look just like what our friends have, all within our budget. I would definitely recommend The Dump to our friends and family. Ask for Mitch!
