| - I do not typically "yelp"about grocery stores, but I'm doing this for others. Now, I grew up in NE Calgary and have literally been going to this particular location since childhood. I still admire it's classic green & yellow style, so it hurts to have to josh it.
The last time we went was just after Easter, and so a lot of seasonal shelves were bare. That's fine, because my complaint is regarding cleanliness. My mum went to use the washroom (I was with my mother, yes) and she came back shuddering, saying that the toilet was jammed with toilet paper right to the rim, and there was human waste all over the floor in there too. That was strike one. Then, we proceded to shop, but it seemed nearly every aisle had a slipping hazard, products lying on the floor, pieces of paper & cardboard, here & there...the whole time, I was thinking "where is their cleaning staff?" I had to move stuff myself to keep from falling down. Strike two. Now, for what I perceive to be the biggest strike: When we were at the check-out, I noticed a box of corndogs (from the freezer aisle!) that had been sitting out long enough to be warm. I took it to customer service simply to explain that it would now not be safe to put a thawed meat product back in the freezer, because someone could get food-bourne illness. I understand they'd be taking a small profit loss, but I think they can afford it. The first person I spoke to said he wasn't on duty and couldn't help, and the next person insisted she would later put the corndogs back in the freezer, despite my telling her someone could get sick from eating those.
So, to those of you who value your health & safety, do yourself a favor, find another Superstore somewhere else.
