  • Found out about this place from Chef's Night Out a segment from Munchies on Youtube. District One is known for it's lobster pho that goes for marketplace value of $50.00. We made reservations for 11:15am and realized we're coming in right when they opened so we really didn't need a reservation. The interior is very hip and modern looking with our hostess being very friendly and our waiter being informative funny and very attentive to our needs. What i liked when we ordered was that our waiter asked if we will need separate bills which is great as we don't have to bug the waiter/waitress if we can all have separate bills at the end of our meal so we divided our group into two to get 2 separate checks (to make it easier for our server). I ordered the specialty ox tail loco moco after seeing it on yelp. The dish was very rich and heavy; it came with plenty of ox tail and the egg was cooked perfectly sunny side up however it did not come with a meat patty like normal loco moco and may have helped with the richness of the dish. The Ox tail fried rice is what i should have ordered as it was balanced in flavor and would be good if it came with little side dishes (like korean style banchan). My friend complimented on how good the Bun Bo hue and big bone marrow soup was. The Lobster pho is basically pho that comes with a whole lobster. I must say that this dish is all hype imo. The broth is not infused with lobster it's just regular pho nothing to special about it. The lobster itself was over cooked to a rubbery chewy meat; though it looks amazing in photos and video it is what it is; basic pho with overcooked lobster for $50.00. The Vietnamese donkey which is a beefed up version of a moscow mule was extremely refreshing the strong ginger taste is welcoming and the drink is just well executed. many people believe the Lobster Pho is this restaurants staple, but for me the ox tail fried rice is where it's at.
