  • EDITED. My last review was really derogatory. I should not hold a bad roasted chicken against them, even if it did give us all diarrhea. I'm sure it was probably a one-off thing and could happen at ANY grocery that sells those cooked chickens under those lamps. BASHA'S is great for people who HATE waiting in line or dealing with crowds of people. Basha's is almost always rather unpopulated, very easy to navigate the aisles and easy in/out for those who are busy or in a hurry. I really enjoy being able to get in and out of my least favorite errand in an easy and unencumbered manner, and Basha's lines for the cashier are never long. Their cashiers are mostly pretty agreeable and polite. There is one working there I think they may have hired for some sort of "welfare to work" or some tax deal as she is about as bright as a box of hair, and has hand tattoos (ugh) Basha's offers the BEST brand of banana: Chiquita. Nobody else in my area carries this kind- and I LOVE Chiquita bananas. Basha's bread is to die for!! Get their "BASHA"S HOMETOWN" which is sold in its own area, adjacent to the mass-produced breads, but in a corner spot. They almost "hide" it- but GRAB some- grab many loaves and freeze for later. A loaf of fantastic white bread they usually sell around 1.99 to 2.25 or thereabouts- it is absolutely THE best bread you can buy - and I mean they have hot dog buns, hamburger buns, you name it- get THEIR kind- and not the generic Basha's bread mixed into the main bakery area- but their "home made" with the brown sticker on it- NOT the blue basha's wrapper! Their hot dog buns are a meal just for one bun- no joke. BASHAS' BREAD IS NOT MADE OUT OF CHEAP FILLERS SUCH AS WOOD PULP! I BELIEVE THEY DO NOT USE ANY CELLULOSE AS FILLER AT ALL THEIR BREAD IS ACTUALLY REAL BREAD OUT OF REAL INGREDIENTS unlike a certain *other* grocery that has low prices- their bread was so awful it was like eating a kitchen sponge How hard is it to find buttermilk?? for some reason a lot of grocer's don't have it- Basha's does. Basha's is Phoenix "Best Kept Secret" I go there to avoid the crowds (I despise crowds when shopping) If you're out doing errands, driving around and spy a Basha's with an empty-ish looking parking lot, GO IN and take advantage of the deserted aisles and get your shopping done. Another reason I like it is, the Basha's guy was a good friend of my F-I-L as I just recently found out, and apparently they are a very nice family. Do the "family" a favor and shop there. You will not regret making it as your new, secret shopping spot. I do Basha's for some items and Winco for specific bin items that only Winco carries- but for everyday/weekly deals I do Basha's.
