| - I've been going to this gym for years now, and a lot has changed over the years - some good and some meh. The staff at this location, in terms of approachability and overall kindness, varies when you go. Some days it'll be great, other days it'll be terrible. But you're there to work out, so this is probably the least of your worries. The music played can be very soft or just loud enough to be heard around the gym, and is generally Top 40 (so very meh).
Though two levels, the gym itself is small. As other yelpers have mentioned, all of the cardio equipment is on the main floor, with the exception of the spin equipment which is in a room upstairs. Along with the cardio equipment, the quick workout Smith machines can be found on the main floor as well, and four squat racks - two of which have platforms and bumper plates, which is a new addition in the past couple months. Two of these squat racks (one platformed) are found in the designated PT section, but are available for use in the hours outside of scheduled clients. There are also a series of cables, kettlebells, and ropes if this is what you're looking for. Upstairs you'll find another two squat racks (none platformed yet); the group fitness room (in use for classes at 9something, 12:15 and generally 5:30-8:30); spin room; dumbbells; e-z curl barbells; four bench presses - one incline and one decline; benches; and smith machines, including leg press and hack squat. I find that this location in comparison to others I've been to is missing quite a few Smith machines, but it does the job.
Be warned that there are a bunch of people here that think they know what they're doing, but really don't. I think all gyms have these people, but I encounter many at this location. Expect to find weight plates and dumbbells scattered and out of order, people curling at the squat rack, and occupying multiple benches/machines, which can get frustrating especially at peak times.
There is no AC at this gym that I am aware of, and though there are big ass fans (literally, it's the brand of the fans) at the gym, they do very little to circulate cool air throughout the gym. On very humid days, or just hot days in general, it can get super muggy, which can contribute to a good sweat. Though for me personally, I can say that at times, this gym occasionally does not provide ideal conditions for working out because it gets so hard to breathe. There is also the deodorant factor on top of this one that contribute to difficulty breathing at this location, but I won't get into it.
On a more positive note, the washrooms and showers are generally clean and stocked in the women's change room. I can't really speak for the men's, but I've heard the same. Finding a locker during peak times can be difficult, some people are forced to shared with a friend or carry their stuff around the gym. I highly recommend locking your stuff up because there have been incidences of theft in the change rooms.
All in all, this location is ideal for the person just looking for a simple workout at any time of day (it's 24/7, with the exception of holidays, etc). If you're looking to powerlift or weightlift, I don't recommend going at peak times if you need a squat rack or bench, because it's always leg day or chest day for someone that has infinite sets... with a friend... or two... so you'll be waiting a bit. But hey, "it's a good day at Goodlife" regardless.
