  • I emailed this letter to Gimme Some Sugar LV regarding my daughter's wedding cake. The owner responded about 45 minutes later stating that she delivered the cake and she left a brown cardboard box. She said they don't provide 4 inch boxes for the top tier cake...which her employees said they did provide a box for the top tier when we ordered. She said they have never had a problem with anyone cutting the cake. I feel like her phone call was argumentative and demeaning with a nasty demeanor. Shame on you! To: Gimme Some Cake On June 25, I came to your store to order a wedding cake. We told your employee that we wanted bling on the cake as well as ombre color. We pointed out the particular cake sample on your wall shelf that had a bling band around the bottom of the layers. More importantly, we requested the cake to be only two layers simply because we knew that a 3 layer cake for twenty people would look meager. We also informed your employee that took the order that we would need a special box delivered with the cake for the top layer because the bride would be carrying the top layer back to Atlanta on the airplane. Not to mention we needed a box to carry the cake out of the restaurant. Your employee assured us that you could provide us with the box. We were told by the restaurant where you delivered the cake that no box was provided when it was delivered. We are extremely disappointed with the lack of understanding and care for our order. As cake professionals surely you would know that the scale of this cake would make it impossible to cut whole pieces for the traditional and treasured cake cutting wedding pictures. Our formal wedding cake knife and a regular knife did not have enough of an edge to properly cut, making a complete mess of the cake cutting process. I have an attached of the image of your cake and you will notice that the cake was not properly designed for a wedding. I am aware that our order form clearly states 3 layers but we ask for two layers. As cake professionals you should know that that a 6" 5" 4" cake would make it impossible to cut whole pieces. We had a $300 cake disaster to say the least. I feel that as a cake designer it is your duty to properly advise and design cakes appropriate for each unique occasion. Our cake was poorly designed and we were ill advised by your staff for our once in a lifetime occasion. We are painfully disappointed with your service.
