Picked up a limited time subscription at the local drug store for my father. Forgot when the paper was supposed to stop being delivered but I thought it was until the end of the year. In November, I received a letter from a collection agency. Called Customer Service at the PD and said that I had a limited time subscription and should not have continued to receive the paper or be billed. They said that I should have read the letter that was inserted in the newspaper that stated I needed to call to cancel. That was not what I agreed to when I signed up and I do not read the additional junk inserted in the paper. I immediately said, CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION. Finally, after several months, I paid the collections company to preserve my credit score. The VERY NEXT DAY, I started to receive newspaper again and the subscription continued. Called customer service AGAIN and they said there was no note in the system cancelling my subscription. I said, give me my account number since the customer service person gave me two different amounts that I "owed". I told her to also CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION IMMEDIATELY. I logged in online that night to check the amount due. The next morning I received notice that my DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION was available to read. WHAT??? I emailed an address that I found online and was told that my subscription will be cancelled effective TOMORROW. Why was it not cancelled several months ago when I called? Why was it not cancelled YESTERDAY when I called? How long and how many other people have been sent to collections because the customer service department for the PD does not cancel subscriptions? RIdiculous. I will NEVER, repeat, NEVER sign up for the PD, again. You've lost a customer for life.
