  • The nurses, volunteers and employees downstairs that checked us in and pre-op for surgery are an A plus group. I was hoping that for the overall hospital experience. Not the case. Surgery seemed to go well. Thanks Dr. Gabriel for calling me directly. However, our recovery area nurses were horrible. The Dr. either should have left specific instructions for discharge w/ Dr. Mai or the nurses, because no one knows what the hell is going on. My mother, who I am full time caregiver of, just got her left breast removed. A breast that was apart of her body for seventy-one years. One nurse couldn't find the silent button for the drip machine which had been beeping for over fifteen minutes, twice. Lissette and Kiristie were our nurses. The case manager Heather was confused as well because of the nurses confusion. Both nurse and case manger said to talk to the other person. If I didn't go hunting for a doctor to discharge mom we'd be there. The nurse told us many incorrect things and said the words 'I forgot' a lot. No hospital room phone for us to speak to the case manager whom they kept trying to transfer the call so finally a nurse brought us a phone. No communication between nurses and doctors. A doctor, covering for Dr. Gabriel, Dr. Mai said that the nurses would schedule mom's drains & bandages to be changed at home.... that was incorrect. He did call and apologize. No worry, but it added to the problem. No one assisted in showing us how to clean the wounds or drain her two drains. Nurse Kiristie asked if she could 'sit down' instead of helping my mom get dressed to finally go home. Items were left in the room as pictured, that the nurse forgot. I have been dealing with hospitals for six months now and am far too familiar w/ how nurses are at other hospitals, awesome! This was far from that. No wonder they have a low rating which I hope the hospital has someone to read this and some positive changes. I am very disappointed and noted more incompetence and confusion in an email to them. I am giving one star for the people I had to find for help such as Brittany T. and the staff in pre-op and check-in who deserve recognition.
