  • The first house and the first new home that I have ever bought is AmericanWest. After 4 months, I have gotten so tired of discovering problems, filing for repairing and waiting for people to come. I think the quality and craftsmanship are the cause of the problems. I might be bias since I had high expectations so I hired an inspector after my wife and I got hurt from the nails on the cabinet that were merely covered by the putty and the touch up paint, and poked by the nails under the carpet. The inspector agrees on the poor quality and poor craftsmanship and found many other problems throughout the house due to these reasons. I also asked the people from the warranty company who have come and gone for the past months. They said some problems might be common to new homes and they had come and fixed at least 5 houses on my street but some were not. For example cracked backsplash of the counter. They think it's due to carelessness and poor craftsmanship. I asked my neighbors and they had problems but they just wanted to fix them on their own or spend money out of their own pocket to hire someone else to fix them because people come and fix the problem but cause another problem. Most of the workers would say, "you have warranty just call the office." Does the company know that their workers are using warranty as their excuses and that ruins the company's reputation? They are ripping off the company too because a lot of them are sub contractors. I also asked someone whom has worked for AmericanWest and later became acquainted to. I don't want to say much about what he told me. Let's put it this way, he used to but he doesn't own an AmericanWest Home. Now, I got all these people and the negative reviews to back me up, and I do believe giving people chances as I wasn't always given a second chance by some teachers and coaches during my school years. But it would be my stupidity to give another chance after 3 strikes. I lost and I gained. Now, I know how to repair cabinets, floors, seal counters and sinks. I missed how to restore crack granite because I was getting drinks for the workers. after all, I treat everyone who comes to my new home as guests and I will watch and learn how to fix cracked ceilings next time. By the way, I called and asked around and got the Director of Homeowners Relations's contact. called and left a message. no replies.
