I had such a positive experience yesterday at the Renaissance Phoenix Glendale that I have to share it. I went there to attend a program where Barbara Corcoran from Shark Tank was the featured speaker. Even though I arrived 45 minutes early, it appeared all handicap parking spots were already taken and I thought the open handicap spot across the street from the hotel was going to be my best option. Often I know better to drive all the way around to the far end of the hotel to be near the meeting rooms. I didn't this time and it was an incredibly lengthy distance to walk to get to the Expo Hall. About halfway there, I was approached by Douglas Baxter, Event Sales Manager, who saw me laboring a bit to go such a distance. He offered to retrieve my car and park it closer. I really liked the idea but wasn't sure what would be available by this time and just wanted to get in the room and sit down already. I told him I would love it if he could retrieve my car for me when this program was over.
He gave me his business card. I called him, not only did he bring the car right to where I was at, he first retrieved a chair from the ballroom so I could sit while waiting. What a fine and considerate human being! Hospitality at its best. I asked him for the email of the hotel's General Manager so I could tell her what a gem of an employee she has in him. Everything about the day's program was so well orchestrated. They were expecting 700 people and 1000 people showed up. Everyone received a free book and a meal and it was truly an enjoyable experience.
