  • Update: Wall patching is in progress. Pest control has sprayed twice. Some small repairs have been made. Management has contacted me to make amends, check on repair status, and offer compensation. I've been told that a window specialist and electrician will be sent in addition to the on-staff maintenance. This is still a work in progress, but it is looking better. This property is under new management with a new name. I have been here less than a week and I'm hoping that things get better. On the surface everything looks cute, renovated and chic but I'm starting to get the impression that I got suckered into overpaying for a polished turd. A pipe burst in the wall the night I moved in. Since I stayed at my friend's house and went straight to work from there, the apartment was flooding at least 16 hours before I got home at 530. The property manager left early (as I'm finding out is the norm) so I left a message on the emergency maintenance line. I had to wait over an hour for a manager to come from one of the other properties to show up and assess the situation, turn off the water, call a plumber and extractor, etc.. The other manager was courteous and professional enough, so were the contractors. I found from the plumber out that this building had a new sewer line installed just days ago (hopefully this means my sewage will not back up as I've heard some of my neighbors have experienced). Four days later I still have blowers in the apartment, contractors coming in ( thankfully they are very professional and management asks permission to enter every time- per the lease) while I'm at work. Meanwhile- the cockroaches and crickets are coming out at night in droves! I have been sleeping with the lights on in hopes they don't crawl on me! After reading other reviews I am now inspecting for bedbugs and getting very little sleep. I've been using store-bought roach killers plus soapy water to try to keep the situation under control until pest control can make their scheduled appearance (most likely while I'm at work). Yesterday there was a junkie sleeping in my neighbor's assigned parking spot. When I spoke to her about it she warned me that this is a dangerous neighborhood where sleepy junkies are the least of the problems- that most new tenants move out quickly due to poor plumbing, crime, and high power bills. The appliances are brand new, yet Some of the wiring is so old that most of the outlets are not grounded and many are non polarized. The management has not yet offered any compensation, apology or discounts to myself for any of the above inconveniences. I feel very sorry for some of the others here who have moved into worse conditions than I have- I hope that their living conditions have been made right-or that they have at least been properly compensated.
