| - This place is a hit or miss with their food. I'm Croatian and the food is basically all the same as Bosnian food, so when we don't feel like cooking anything, we usually come here. When they first opened, their Pitas/Bureks (what we usually order) were full of the cheese filling, but in the past year or two, it's rare that you get a Pita/Burek that is actually filled enough with cheese. Most of the time it's just dough, which is still better than nothing.
What really docks of stars is their customer service... I drive by this place on my way home, so on a day I got off early, my mom asked me to stop by and pick up 5 cheese pitas/bureks. I get there, and ask for 5 cheese and they only had 3 cheese and 2 meat, so I said I'll take it, and the male owner became incredibly rude with me, telling me that if I wanted more than a couple pitas that I had to call ahead of time... Um, well what if I am feeding multiple people, and we on a whim decided we wanted this to eat?? I tried to explain that my mom had just called me and asked to get some since it's on my way and that I was happy with whatever they had available. So then, of course, he is pissy, doesn't even tell me what my total is and just holds his hand out for money. This is a no-no. I need to know what I am paying so that I can make sure to balance it out.
My mom went back a few months after that, and ordered again about 5 pitas/bureks and some Cevapi and some bread (which I will get to later). My mom complained to them that they really should start actually filling the pitas, for which they had no comment. This time he did tell my mom the total, and she paid cash, and was to get just over $5 back, which he didn't give her back. Left a bad taste in her mouth and she felt awkward asking for her money back.
Their breads are overloaded with yeast. That is all you can taste and smell when eating the rolls or their loaves of bread. It sucks because when they initially opened, their bread was absolutely delicious.
The desserts are usually pretty good. Every so often, we get pitas that are actually full of the cheese filling, but it's far and few between.
If you're looking for an authentic place for pitas/meats, go to Cafe Sarajevo on 34th ave and Northern or for great pitas and authentic European breads and rolls, go to Balkan Bakery on 12th st and Bell... it's SO worth it.
It's 2 stars for convenience when I just want some food and don't feel like making it myself.
