| - Let me preface my review by saying that I have grown up staying at Embassy Suites hotels. My family moved a lot and since were a family of six, we needed more space/beds. We found that Embassy Suites were a great fit.
THIS Embassy Suites was Sketchville. As previous reviewers have said, it is more of a motel atmosphere with doors opening to the outside unlike most Embassy Suites.
The rooms were typical but tired.
As for my beloved Happy Hour. My siblings and I always reminisce about ordering cherry Cokes (felt so fancy as a kid) and eating popcorn. This hotel's happy hour was not held in the typical fountain atrium but rather on the top floor of the hotel in what seemed to be a row of rooms converted into a lounge. They did have a nice spread though, including some fruit and veggies with chips, salsa, and popcorn.
And now to the best part. My family had not had dinner so we agreed to order pizza. My husband googled and found a Papa John's within .4 miles of the hotel. We figured we'd order and then take an evening walk to pick it up. However, I wanted to check with the front desk before we went galavanting around the area since it didn't have the safest feel. My 6' 4" husband and I approach the front desk and I say, "Is it safe for us to walk around here?" Without hesitation the girl responds, "No. We don't recommend it." Even a couple blocks!
So, we hop in the rental car and drive two blocks to Papa Johns. I wait in the car (fearing for my life!) while my husband goes into the BULLET PROOF GLASS, BANK TELLER LIKE pizza joint. It was literally set up to where all you do is slip money under the little glass window and they slide your pizza out. WHAT?!
My advice, is choose a different hotel.
Embassy Suites, you can do better. WAY better.
