| - Been here 5 or 6 times since I moved to Charlotte last year. As a lover of 'cue who has traveled all over the south in search of the choice stuff, I've actually been kinda disappointed with the clt bbq scene overall. But midwood smokehouse holds its own. I mean, it's no 12-Bones (outta Asheville), but you'll leave happy enough.
The ribs are quite good, as is the pulled pork and brisket (I like a mix of lean and fatty). Sausage was only alright, and I'd steer clear of the KC burnt ends, normally one of my favorites, but which were too tough and bland for my liking (lacking that sharp bark-y zing). Sides are solid: mac and cheese, beans, Carolina slaw, and bacon-wrapped cheesy jalapeƱos for the m'fin WIN!
Also has pretty good beer list, especially if you like NC and Southeastern craft brews.
