rev:text	Call ahead to see when they open and close because it changes depending upon the time of the year: holiday season, summer season, and "regular" season. Come early and stay all day in order to get the most for your money. In order to do this, you must PLAN AHEAD. 1. Call Guest Services in advance to see what kind of ticket packages they offer. Also, if you qualify for food stamps, you get in on Sundays with $5 (?) per head pricing. 2. Bring what food and water you're allowed to bring because like at any other theme park, zoo food and beverage is expensive. Savannah Grill has pop American food like corn dogs and hamburgers. Cavern Cafe has Mexican-style food. Snack bars exist, too, and typically sell junk food as do a handful of vending machines. Feel free to bring in a wagon for your kids along with strollers, which are available for rent as are scooters. 3. Sting Ray Bay, carousel rides, camel rides, 4D cinema/theater, safari train ride, pedal boats, special exhibits, and photos co$t extra...but they're worth it. Plan for this expenditure in advance. 4. Zoo Lights during the holiday season is expensive at about $18/head. However, if you volunteer or work as an employee, you can earn free and reduced tickets. Call around Halloween in order to apply for a volunteer/employee positions. Howl-O-Ween is fun just like Zoo Lights, but Noon Year's Eve is where you get the most for your money. Plus, it has real snow. Attend the NYE celebration with the zoo ticketing full package, go home for a long siesta, and return later after dark for Zoo Lights where you can do the "extras" again but at night. Zoo Lights is a lot different that visiting the zoo. You're in for a real treat at night, but there's no zoo animals really visible. It's about the lights, light displays, and music. It "snows" (fake) at the Christmas tree at 7:30 pm during zoo lights. 5. Rest assured that the animals at this zoo are well cared for. This zoo has at least 2 accreditations and the staff are extremely protective of the animals. Please don't harass the wildlife or zoo life because you could become banned and escorted from this private property if not fined and arrested.
