| - In January 2013, I took my two dachshunds there for new patient annual check. We had just moved to Madison, and needed a new vet. Initial impression was that the office is quite small, but the staff seems fine. Both dogs needed annual dental cleanings. The quote for the surgeries were reasonable and in line with what we were used to in Atlanta. Both needed dental extractions, the male more than the female. When we picked up the pups, my male was crying. He was inconsolable and restless for the following hours despite oral pain pills. I called the clinic, and they were very dismissive, saying he was just verbalizing.
Today, a year later, I took the pups to a different, highly recommended Vet, who examined my male, and told me he has an open fistula from his upper dental extraction into his sinus. He apparently has been having low grade chronic infections. He will have to have an expensive reparative surgery, that will be even more expensive, if it involves his bone.
My adult son also took his elderly Rott to Healthy Pet last September with a painful, red claw and paw. X-rays were done and he was put on antibiotics. The paw worsened, despite 2 courses of antibiotics, so he was taken to Deer Grove Vet in Cottage Grove for a second opinion. The x Rays were requested from Healthy Pet, and reviewed. He had degeneration of the bones of the metatarsals, suspicious for cancer. He had the surgery to amputate part of the paw, and digit. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, bone cancer, which likely has metastasized.
I would never recommend this Vet clinic.
