| - This isn't a super busy gym but is located right beside Bathurst subway station. It's led by stairs to the second floor and the space is very clean, with a coat hanger and place to put your outdoor shoes. Both washrooms and shower rooms are unisex single rooms with enough space to change.
I think the staff put a lot of thought into what equipment they wanted and where it should go. Cardio machines face windows, resistance machines are conveniently grouped together, and free weights and cages are lined up against one side of the room. There is a separate group fitness room that is open for stretching, boxing (3 bags), TRX and Olympic Ring work when classes aren't going on.
The price is very reasonable if a little bit confusing to understand. My husband and I were originally under the impression that we could make a one-time payment for the entire year when, in reality, that was a one-time enrollment fee so that the monthly rate will forever be at a discount.
What impressed me most was the manager, Chuck. He is very professional and client-centred, responds quickly to email, and doesn't try to sell aggressively. We met in person to see the space, but had a minor hiccup with the membership terms. Chuck offered us a freebie try-out right after our meeting. After our work out and some private discussion, we regrouped in his office where he was able to give us a deal, further clarified any confusions, and gave us even more useful information.
If you're picky about equipment like me, here's a list of have's and have-not's:
Bars + plates - yup. Flooring seems to allow for Olympic lifts but I haven't seen anyone doing them.
Padded weighted bars - yup. Great for learning cleans and whatnot.
Kettlebells - 2 sets up to 45 lb, if memory serves me right.
Dumbbells - up to 90 lb
Sled/Tires - no
Ropes - no
Foam rollers - 1 blue, 1 PVC, 1 of those lumpy ones
TRX - 1 set
Olympic rings - 1 pair
Aerobic Step - 1 set with 4-5 pairs of risers
Wood sprung flooring in the group fitness room
Cable machines have adjustable pulleys (goodness knows why some gyms don't have this)
Bring your own lacrosse balls and therabands.
