| - This review is for my experience with the Bakery only.
I've only had a membership for a few months now and was yet to get anything from their Bakery.
So when I was in need for cupcakes for my son's Dedication brunch I called around to a few bakeries and were given quotes of $60 and up for 20 cupcakes. I was complaining about these high quotes while getting my nails done and one of the girls told me I should go to Sam's for the cupcakes. She said she managed a Sam's Bakery for 8 years and said they could do everything I wanted for the cupcakes except arrange them in a cross shape for like $18. She said they can do to the floral design, include the blue edible pearls and give me the board for the cupcakes so I would just need to arrange them into a cross when I got home.
So I was excited! I went into Sam's with a pic of what I wanted. The first employee who looked up and saw me said "what do you need?" I said I'd like to place a cupcake order and she said "I don't take orders."
After a few seconds, a second woman came up to me, who I assume was the Bakery supervisor or lead designer. Basically the whole interaction was bad. I explained what I wanted, she kept repeating we don't do that, we don't do that. And then she said very condescendingly "if it's not in the book, we don't do it." I was just asking for 20 cupcakes with white frosting in a floral shape so I was confused, I'm not asking for anything crazy. So then I explained, hmm is there any way you could do this because I was just talking with a woman who told me she managed a Sam's Bakery for 8 years and thought this was totally do-able. Again very rudely she said "well I've worked here for 12 years and we've never done that."
I was shamed and sad. I completely understand that the Bakery might have limitations and may not be able to do something that a customer wants but that is not the way to go about telling them. She was very rude.
I finally walked away and then realized that I may not have any other options because I don't want to spend $60 on 20 cupcakes for my happy occasion so I returned and asked to place the order with the design the way she said they could be done even though that's not really what I wanted. Again another awkward conversation. Placed the order but I left really bummed out.
A few days later I was at Glazier's and had a completely different experience. Their Bakery staff was so friendly and accommodating. I placed my order with them and called Sam's Bakery to cancel my order. And yet another awkward interaction. This time a male answered and was very unprofessional, yelling in to the phone "hey, how do I cancel an order?" After talking to someone else I finally got the order cancelled.
I'm done with this Bakery. Glazier's is a much better, affordable option.
