Eating here is always hit or miss for us. They must have hiring troubles because we have had awful service. On one occasion we were served our chips upon arrival but no one ever came to take our order so we walked out. On another occasion the waitress was just awful, repeating our order back to us wrong and not remembering she had already taken our credit card (if that doesn't make you nervous...). The only time I go there now is with my girlfriends when swift service doesn't matter as much since we are too busy gabbing.
The food is as you would expect for Americanized Mexican. It's good enough to fill a spot in your stomach, but the chips and warm tortillas are addicting.
Despite the gamble you take when getting dinner, they did a great job for us when we celebrated hubby's and my 40th birthday parties. Hubby hit the big 4-0 first and for his birthday we did a buffet style party where they had pans of food and we paid per person. I believe it came to about $600 for the party but we were prepared for that expense and pleased with how it all turned out. Keep in mind hubby is approaching 50 now and anything could change in 10 years.
For my party we opted to just have an informal get together in the bar and order appetizers as needed which was much more reasonable -- maybe in the $140 area. Again, no complaints for this arrangement.
In the end -- yes vote for parties at Pedro's and lower your expectations for a dinner date.
