| - 4 stars for the food, +1 for the service.
Went here last may during an outing with the girls (we were shopping and randomly yelped here cuz the building looked fancy)
It wasn't too busy, and we we seated next to a window overlooking the plaza. They were very accomodating, rearranging tables and seats to seat all of us.
I ordered a lamb chop appetizer and a seafood Valencia paella. The lamb chop ($10?) was expensive for the size, but wow, it tasted great. My standard for lamb was firm meat with a distinct "lamb smell". The one here was very juicy and soft. No tough fibers here!
When my paella came out, somehow the server mistook my request of "no onions" for "no onions and clams". I told the server, and a few minutes later, the cook himself came out and apologized for the error. He told me that he'll give me a bowl of clams instead of the 3-4 that's usually included in the pan. wow! thanks! In the meantime, I ate a bit of the paella - the texture of the rice is very soft, like a risotto. the rice was soft, but not mushy. Peas, sausage and shrimp were nicely seasoned. Clams were nicely buttered with a hit of herbs.
Later on, the chef came out to check up on us again, and we reassured him the food was great (we also tried the banana pudding, the fried banana, the calamari, it was great)
This was the first time I tipped so much because of how amicable the staff was and I had such a great experience. If i'm ever in the area again, for sure I'll be coming back - you don't see places that specialize in paella in many places!
