| - I had never had an arepa (arepas?) before, and my coworker suggested this place. I was definitely skeptical given the surroundings, and also because we got lost. Anyhoo, we walked in and it was packed!! The lunch line was practically out the door which is always a good sign. I didn't know what was up and what was down, so I trusted her judgment on what to order, and the menu board has stars by the most popular items as well. I got the chicken arepa with avocado, some sort of lime/mayo sauce, and peas. I have a major thing for any food item with guava as well, so I grabbed a guava & cheese pastry. The wait for food to go wasn't too horrible, but I wouldn't say it was quick.
The pastry unfortunately was downright gross. I am assuming that the cheese was supposed to be melted considering it was a hot pastry, but when I bit into it, there was just a hard and rubbery stick of white cheese in the middle. The guava jam was slightly bitter, and needless to say, I was disappointed. The chicken arepa was good, but find me something with avocado and lime that isn't!
