I recently attended the 8th annual Oysterfest in Montreal. This is a very cool event. Great venue lots of space to freely walk around and lots of places to sit down. I didn't realize it was dog friendly, I wish I had brought my dog Jack.
I probably ate about 30 oysters. There were oysters from Boston, Virginia, PEI, BC and more. I also had a salmon marinated carpaccio with some sort of chutney on top...delicious and very inspiring. I also had a deep fried, seafood dumping thing that was amazing.
There were lots of stands where you could get an alcoholic drink. My friends and I never had to wait in line for more than 30 seconds anywhere because there were plenty of different stands for all the guests.
I spent a lot of money but it was totally worth it. Very cool vibe in a relaxed atmosphere with great oysters...the perfect place to spend a Sunday in September.
My only concern was the waste. Next year they should maybe invest in compostable plates and have a compost bin for the oyster shells. I can't imagine how much garbage there must have been left at the end.
