07/17 - Binding Estimate received from West Coast Movers
07/16 - 07/21 - Various other quotes were received and we spoke to Mark to understand how they can deliver at such a price. Mark explained that they are a large scale carrier with whom there is a small volume available in a big truck and so can deliver at such a rate; We informed all others movers we were speaking that we found someone)
Driver (Bob) would call and ask for picking up with a notice of 2 hours.
07/21 - Pankhuri Arora signed the document at 13:12 EST. A representative to pick up stuff from Tempe was provided to the movers along with the stipulated time for pickup from a storage location (all articles were packed)
As we were traveling consultants, we specifically requested for delivery on Fri/Sat/Sun to which Mark agreed. Based only on these conditions we finalized them.
07/24 - The driver loaded all the goods and then reported that the volume was 400 cu sq ft in place of 258 cu sq ft and immediately changed the binding estimate from 1196 to 1800$
The driver spoke that he was not responsible for us the previous estimate and that he will not upload if we do not agree to his terms viz., a) additional costs for changing trucks b) repetition of articles
They promised to deliver by 7/29 which was a Friday and acceptable to us.
As we were not in Tempe and as our representative tried to reach to us, we mentioned that we will report back to the office. He said that should be fine and that he should start moving immediately if things need to be delivered on time on 07/29.
We were left with no option but to agree to his terms and we tried to reach out to the movers' office to discuss about the additional charges. NO ONE has responded on these so far.
The driver also promised to have the office send out a copy of the bill of lading by post to my Ashburn address. This was NEVER done..
We tried to call and talk about the repetition of items being counted and also the drivers demand for 400$ if 50 ft trailer cannot be accommodated in the residential complex.
7/29 - Mark, the generic number and the driver (Bob) stopped picking up phones and answering to emails. The office stopped answering phones and emails for more than 5 days. Multiple repeated efforts to reach out to them were futile.
Subsequently, they ( someone called Emily) picked up the phone and reported that the items were not loaded so there is no way a new estimate could have been provided. And also mentioned that when it will be loaded then they will send final estimate on email.
8/11 - The movers called back saying that they are delivering and that I should expect them on Wednesday. When we brought up our accepted request around delivery on weekend (as we are not in town during weekdays), they reported back that they have their own schedule and that they will charge us if we are not around.
08/13 - The driver called at 14:30 EST saying that he will deliver on 08/14 at 08:00 making us change our plans to make ourselves available for 08/14.
08/13 - Evening - The driver called again saying that he was near the apartment (when we were not around) and said that he will have to use a U Haul with 10 ft height and that it will not fit near the apartment. He assessed that the underground parking was of a height of 7 feet. He did also this unannounced and when we were not around.
The estimate now has become 2200$
08/14 - We realized that the arbitration program link on their estimate does not work anymore

Additionally the original email of Mark where we were interacting is bouncing off emails now.
FYI I saw a different west coast movers review and hired them. please don't do the same mistake as we did
