| - My dog has every issue a dog can have. Even though we raised him from a puppy, and treated him like royalty, at 2 years old something in him changed, and he became very protective of our family, to the point of going after strangers. He hates other dogs, he doesn't like activity, he just likes to hang out and be 'him'- which is great, until you want to have visitors! I took him to three trainers, all who appeared to despise him as much as he despised them. Nothing worked. The three week boot camp at Partners has made some difference in my very stubborn guardian. He is more responsive to commands- walks way better on a leash, and more over, we have learned how to handle him more. He is crated when people come over, until he feels comfortable being around them. Kitra at Partners really explained how to get inside his head and manage situations so he is not so overwhelmed, scared and aggressive. We have come to terms that he will always be like this, but frankly, I would probably keep any dog away from strangers until I knew they were ok with the stimulation.
Why 4 stars? It's pretty pricey and the outside training area is hot hot hot. Frequent customer perks would be nice- like a punch card or something for loyal customers. Some shade sails and misters would be a great idea. Also, maybe some more training ideas for aggressive dogs to build up his confidence. He loves to do agility but he can't be around other dogs- maybe some special needs training classes should be added. Overall though, I am happy to find a place that will train him, and board him, and where he feels comfortable.
