| - I really, really like AJ's (all of them). The service is always wonderful and the stores are fun to shop in. I live walking distance from this location and I would shop here frequently, but I have scaled back how much I go and what I buy because I had some bad experiences lately. I want to clarify that the staff is great, my experience is with the food. The last three times I bought chicken there, it was rancid. I mean, upon opening the butcher paper it smelled like a rotting corpse was in my kitchen. THREE TIMES. I buy the chicken and drive two minutes home to cook it. It's not like it sits in my refrigerator for days and days before I use it. How can the guys at the meat counter sell this? They have to be able to smell it, but they are still going to wrap it up like nothing is wrong with it? Also, for the last two dinner parties that I hosted I bought a few pies for each one. The first couple of pies were supposed to be peach, but were actually apple with jalapeno (which was disgusting, btw). They were labeled wrong. The second party, I cut into the pies and the crust was raw. The manager has always been apologetic and helpful, but I can't keep shopping here if I have to keep taking my purchases back. It's too bad because I really do like the store.
