  • Aqua Sport Scuba Centre is one of four dive shops in Calgary. The newest one is Caribbean Dreams... and judging by the title, I'm not sure if I would trust it. Aqua Sport Scuba Centre, however, has been in business since 1994, and had a large team of reputable dive instructors. First, I should mention that I haven't taken any courses through them. I actually did my OW certification through the Dive Shop. So why am I writing a review? Because I sought their advice and purchased gear from them. I knew I could trust these guys because there seems to be great camaraderie between the two shops. They also seemed to be the most experienced. I was looking for some peripheral dive gear since it's almost impossible to rent cameras, lights, etc. I was also looking for a specific dive computer that a reliable dive gear snob from Edge Diving (Vancouver, BC) recommended. The Dive Shop didn't carry it, and the one they recommended looked super cheap. I called Aqua Sport Scuba Centre to see if they had it in stock, and I was also looking for a wide angle lens for my camera. They had the computer, but not the lens. What impressed me the most was that they knew exactly what I was looking for (the people at Adventures in Scuba had no idea). They also offered to order one in, and it came in within a day! When I went to pick up my purchases, I made a point to check out what kind of equipment they have in the shop. Their website says that they have the largest selection in Calgary. It seems like the Dive Shop has more in the store, but with the service that I received, I'm sure you could order stuff in. I saw that they carried most of the major brands, but I didn't see any Hollis gear - maybe some fins? Could I be blind? There was also a shop rottie who was super cute. "Office" dogs are the best. Overall, this dive shop does everything that a proper dive shop should. I would recommend this shop to anyone who wants to get certified in Calgary.
