I just tasted their one day old lemon tart which my friend bought. Not that they sell old pastries - I mean it was left in my fridge for 24 hrs before I got round to eating. So the lemon tart - Very very nice...it's fragrant, lemony; sharp but well balanced against the nutty tasting crust. Good impression so far. Looking forward to visiting the shop!
Update
I have now tasted my second pastry take out which is a blueberry cream pastry. Pic is attached. The base is a semi risen puff pastry and this is topped with a layer of vanilla bean cream, followed by a senior-solid blue berry jam. Then there are 3 profiteroles filled with a blue berry cream and glazed with a blueberry syrup. Pastry is topped with another cream and some rice pearls.
I find that this dessert was quite over the top; lots of different elements to keep the eating interesting. Again the tastes were balanced, with the puff pastry base giving a nice salty contrast to the creamy, sweet flavours. The blueberry glaze provided a nice, very slight crunch (day old pastry) - not sure if it was intended but nice.
So far the impression is that a lot of thought and care go into making the pastries. Can't wait to visit it myself
