Queen West has it up to its sweet tooth in baked treat options. High-end options like Nadège and Dufflet rub shoulders with accesible goodies from Clafouti and Quaff.
With so many temptations, is there *really* room for one more?
My wife has a thing for cupcakes. And fancy french baking and coffee shop cookies are most certainly not cupcakes.
The owners of Dlish seem to recognize this and are giving Queen West a taste of their sleekly presented cupcakes with a dizzying variety of flavors.
While it's early still, the cupcakes were far different from staples like the Cupcake Shop at Yonge and Eglinton and certainly not nearly as intimidating as those found at the Magnolia Bakery. The icings have a lot of character and the cake isn't as dense as you'd expect.
Where I think Dlish is going to do well is the number of cheap and cheerful presentation options they have to upgrade even a modest single cupcake to something special. The staff really show their attention to detail and know how to make you feel special, right down to helping you choose the right beeswax candle!
Give it a try-- it's a nice break from the usual on the strip and makes for some inexpensive and fun gifting, too.
