Terrible customer service.
I went to Layers twice and both times I had not so great experiences.
The first time I ordered some breakfast, I requested sausage be added to my meal, I was charged for it, but when I got home there was no sausage. I called and told the manager my problem in which he remembered me asking for sausage because he was the one who took my order. He tells me he will replace my food and make sure there is sausage. I then receive a call about 10 minutes later from the manager asking me "are you sure there is no sausage, my cook remembers putting some in there" I then reply yes I am sure (it's sausage I mean if they were there I'd see/taste them) I go there and get my food remade.
The second and last time I went into layers was with my sister. She wanted to try this place for the first time and I feel bad for even bringing her there. We both ordered a sandwhich that had an over - medium egg on it. But when we go to eat our meals my sister's egg is completely cooked with no yolk what so ever, and mine is way undercooked because as soon as I bit down on the sandwhich, egg yolk runs down my hand. So becuase I am pregnant and did not want to eat such an undercooked egg I go back in and ask for my egg to be simply made a little longer, and even state the obvious that I was pregnant and couldn't/wouldn't eat the egg they gave me. So when I'm waiting for my food to be remade (once again) another employee takes it upon herself to instruct the employee who orginally helped me to come and tell me "well the menu states the egg is over - medium" and she hands me my food again. Obviously this upset me because 1 I can read and 2 I've always thought over - medium meant a little runny and not dripping down your hands runny. Also if it was supposed to be over - medium I asked then why was my sisters egg cooked so long it didn't have a drip of yolk in it? Instead of just making another egg and apologizing I basically get told "oh well", so I requested a refund from a manager who didn't even once apologize and basically let his rude employee act like she ran the place.
Her job is to serve pastries and coffee so I have no idea why she felt the need to act smug and superior. I suggest that Layers and their employees come off the pedestal they've placed themselves on and realize, fancy decor and gluten free doesn't make up for rude employees and unpleasant experiences. I'll never go to this shop again because frankly it's not worth it!
