  • Like a lot of people we saw them on Undercover Boss and decided to give them a try. Looked them up on the internet and notice a couple sales/coupons, one was "mention you saw us on Undercover Boss and get......," so we went on Fathers Day. Granted we walked in at 4:30 when they close at 5 so there was no more than a dozen cupcakes left but that was ok, we did not need that many. However, when we walked in the girl came out from the back and looked rather irritated, the first thing out of her mouth was "we usually have more of a variety but we close in 30 Min." I noticed a sign from the Undercover Boss show and said, oh that is how we learned of you, she says "Ya lots of people saw that show". So I asked her if she could recommend any of the cupcakes, she offered her opinion, which was little, and what specials there were. which she did not answer. I then asked how much they were and she again said nothing but pointed to the sign, so I said, ok we will take 4 cupcakes, and again looking rather irritated she boxed them up. At this point I asked again what their specials were and stated again that I had seen something on the internet about a discount to which she replies "whatever you saw on the internet does not exist anymore, our specials change on a daily basis". Now....I get that she probably had a long day but customer service is still priority, something she clearly does not understand. And now for the cupcakes...they were OK, not great, not bad, a little too much frosting and the cake was a little dry but that could be because it was the end of the day and they had been sitting there all day. I was impressed with how they look, Yummy and Pretty. Since we were not too impressed with GiGi's we decided to go check out another cupcake place in the mall, Sweet Daddy Cupcakes (3pm on a Sunday), and do a taste comparison.....Sweet Daddy's was by far the better cupcake, their display case was overflowing with cupcakes and the gentlemen behind the counter were super friendly and helpful with all their flavors. I admire the owner of GiGi's but it seems that she and her team are still a little out of touch with some of her locations, employees and quality control. I understand It's hard to run a business and even harder to find good help and I cant imagine trying to manage a national company like her, but in my opinion consistency is the key, both in management and in product. Perhaps a little more training is in order for the Ahwatukee location because I find it hard to believe that this is a huge company making millions with dozens of locations across the country if what I experienced here is the norm, especially in quality of product. In all fairness I will try GiGi's again and update my review if anything changes.
