  • Went here on a Sunday around 1:30pm with a Groupon. I had heard about these sensory depravation tanks- Epsom salt with heavy heavy heavy salinity: uses include relaxation/rejuvenation from life in addition to muscle tension, chronic pain, etc although there is no medical evidence supporting these claims, a couple of my friends tried it and I thought why not. We all live busy and stressful lives and wanted to try something adventurous and new. My friend and I made an appointment because you spend about an hour in the tank and they have 4 rooms. Lindsey greeted us when we walked in and we were given white board style forms for our information and liability in which we signed in dry erase marker. I mean i understand that float tanks are not a medically/scientific thing but a dry erase marker- even my massage place is more professional. After filling out our "paperwork", we were asked to remove our shoes and put on community slippers (kinda gross) but whatever, then taken to our pods- They freaking looked like SPACESHIPS- Super cool. You can either go in a bathsuit or naked- not sure what that level of salinity will do to your cute swimsuit or swimtrunks so I went naked. As soon as you enter the water, IMMEDIATELY you will find out where every unhealed cut is present on your body. Earlier that morning, I had cut myself while making raspberry scones and SHIT did my cut burn for about 3-5 min, not including any other tiny scratches I didn't know i had. The water was very slimy and not what I expected. You can turn on and off the music and also the light. I decided to go no light and no music as well as close the pod door to get the experience. Im not gonna lie I was afraid even before i went in because I could see how this experience could be pain/anxiety attack inducing; but even my friend who is not anxiety prone also got an initial onset of anxiety in the first 5-10min. After I let go of the wall and after the initial anxiety finally calmed down, you can only pretty much hear your heart pumping blood, you own breathing and my body digesting the scone i had had for lunch (dont eat before you come here unless you wanna hear your body rumble and grumble for the next hour). After finally relaxing about 25min (who even knew the time) into it, I was able to close my eyes and fall asleep. I woke up later (again had no sense of time) with my back aching and a salt water droplet from the condensation on the top of pod drop into my eye- which she warned us could happen and she told us that the spray bottle of water on the side was to be used for just this- However my eye was on fire and thinking i was going to be spraying a water bottle into my eye was a no go- I opened the pod door and had to jump into the shower to flush my eye out With idk what time left to spare in the pod and cold after jumping out of the shower, I realized that anyone can float in these things with that much salt. I was even able to float on my side. It was unbelievable. The jets of the filter went on and I knew my time was up. I then proceeded to take a long hot shower to remove the slimy feeling of the salt water that covered my body. I felt dizzy and disoriented. An assortment of hot teas and cold water were waiting for us in the recovery area. Im not really sure if id recommend the experience to people. It felt more like taking an expensive nap, but I could see how it could be therapeutic for some. Just the idea of sensory depravation and removing yourself from the world even without the use of the float tank can be stress relieving. Read this review with a grain of salt- everyone has their own experience TIPS: 1) Bring your own slippers- unless you want to wear the oversized community ones 2) Bring lotion for after your shower after getting out the tank- maybe even a wash cloth cause it is very difficult to clean off all that salt or else you will need to shower when you get home 3) Bring a towel for your wet hair unless you want to use the community hair dryer 4) Pee/poop before you get into the tank- you want to get the whole experience and not have to leave the tank 5) Try not to eat before you go here- with no sound or light all i heard was my stomach digesting food- was SUPER distracting to my experience
