| - I chose Isis salon based upon yelp reviews, so I thought I should at least put in my experience. The overall experience with Isis was great, easy scheduling, clean salon, nice people, and the price was good, but I won't be going back.
I have very thick curly hair that I usually straighten to a soft wave, but I also wear it curly to avoid too much heat damage. Since this was my first time, I gave Kelly some general direction, figuring if I liked what she did, she could keep doing it, and if I didn't, we could adjust as it grew out.
My requirements:
+ I am growing it out, cut as little as possible off the length (although I knew she'd have to cut some).
+ Keep the layers long and don't over cut, so that it looks as good curly as it does straight.
She said all the right things. She let me know what she would have to do to cut all the dead ends off (I had split end issues in back). Then she just kept cutting...and cutting...and thinning..and cutting...and thinning...
My hair has never been this limp and lifeless in it's life. I wake up in the morning and look like I just came from 1967. I usually have to wrestle it into submission after washing, now it just hangs there and I'm using volumizing hairspray to get the illusion of even a little bit of my natural body, and to try to control all the little flyaways. It has been 3 weeks, and I can already see major gaps between the (too many) layers, even though I told her that I had one section in back that grows more slowly than everything else. She ended up cutting almost 2" off the total length, twice what she said she'd take. And when I got home, for all that cutting and thinning, she *still* didn't get all the dead ends. Not sure how that was even possible.
It will take months to grow out this horrible cut, and I'll be looking for someone who can work with me to fix what was done. She set me back at least a year until I can get my hair to look the way I want it to look. Not happy.
