| - I was invited back to the Egg and I today to update my review. As an account execurive by trade, I appreciated their persistence.... so here we go- Round 2:
As soon as I arrived the manager was waiting to open the door for me. He brought out a sample the much reviled hollandaise that inspired my last review. It still isn't quite as good as homemade, but it was MUCH better, lemony and entirely edible.
The service was fast wnd attentive. I would have thought it was for my benefit, but all the tables seemed well attended. Our coffee came with fresh cream and a whole carafe. I ordered the regular I ordered seemed good enough, but my husband's hazelnut had a mildly off putting burnt flavor to it. All and all passable coffee to go with a breakfast, but not quite cravable, but that's not their specialty.
My children order the blueberry lemon curd pancake combo with turkey sausage and scrambled eggs to split between them. The waitress brought the syrup and extra plate ahead of the food without being asked. So far so good.
They had fresh blueberries on the pancake and the portion was generous.
I had a steak scramble. It was good and bad.b Good: potatoes crisp and not too ranchy. Eggs perfectly cooked. Cremini and bell pepper fresh. The toast was crunchy, but not too cruchy and not over buttered. Bad: what was advertised as steak, was more like chopped philly cheese steak. I asked if they cooked a fresh steak for the dish... they said yes, but i dont believe that to be true. I took the steak home for the dog.
My husband ordered the hunters benedict. Again 50/50. Im kosher so i couldnt taste it. But my husband reports that the muffin was good, the eggs great again, the bacon good, but the ham was refrigerator cold and salad he said tasted unwashed.
All and all an improvement increase from 2 to 3 stars- if you are looking for good eggs or are a vegetarian then this place is fairly eggscalent and the service left absolutely nothing to be desired, but the meat was odd. So overall hit and miss..... but i may be back to try one of their strictly vegetarian dishes.
They have wi-fi.
